Christmas 2014

Christmas 2014

Merry Christmas from warm and sunny Nicaragua where the weather is a balmy 84 today.  No snow, sleet, cloudy days, coats, mittens, boots, or hats - just flip flops and t-shirts.  Lest it sound like we are just beach bums, we’re not; the ocean is an over an hour away so we just hang out at the country club pool.  J Come visit us!!

It is hard to believe that we have been here for almost 2 years!!  When we come home on furlough in July 2015, we will have been gone for 3 ½ years.  We are ready for some Chick fil A!!! Trying to share what we have been doing this past year is like trying to share with you about a mission trip.  However, instead of trying to tell you about 10 days, we are trying to tell you about 360 days. (I’m sure that at least 5 of those days we didn’t do anything special, we might have even been bored…well the kids anyway).

* Mark’s parents visited in November 2013 and Jen’s parents visited in January 2014

*Our kids completed their first full year at Nicaragua Christian Academy

*Our first major earthquake and the kids were out of school for 4 weeks including spring break

*The feeding center has new bathrooms and a kitchen

*El Camino continues to grow in numbers and we have had as many as 170 kids

*We have done over 50 different crafts with the kids at El Camino

*Our ministry with the pastors has grown and continues to expand

*We hosted 3 teams this year including our home church, Washington Heights

*We are completely fluent in Spanish and we have a bridge for sale

*Nicaragua had its worst drought in 30 years.  Through generous donations, the ABWE team distributed over 6 tons of rice and over 3 tons of beans to suffering families in communities where there are church plants

*Looking forward to being Stateside July – December 2015
