Estamos en Costa Rica!

Hola to all of our family and friends in the Estados Unidos!

Thank you for all of your prayers, well wishes, e-mails, Facebook postings, etc.  We are so blessed to have the support of God's people.  We would not be here without you and the grace of our heavenly Father.  Thank you to all of you who saw us off at the airport.  It was difficult to say good-bye but we appreciate your presence.  Thank you also to all of you who wrote letters to our kids for their books - and letters to us for our surprise book!

We arrived in San Jose, Costa Rica on January 2nd around 9:00 p.m. Central American time (which is the same as U.S. central time).  We made it through immigration and customs with no problems.  We were met at the airport by our wonderful "Big Brother", Jason Rozenboom.  The fourteen suitcases, six carry-ons, six personal items, and one cat were loaded in a couple vans and we headed into San Jose.  We arrived at our house around 10:30 and after unlocking the two gates and the front door we were able to pile everything in our living room.

We are very thankful for our Big Brother and Sister, Jason and Kelly Rozenboom.  They have been so good to us.  Picking us up at the airport, stocking our refrigerator, making us yummy cinnamon rolls, taking us to the school, stores, bank, etc, showing us around the neighborhood, and answering a million questions.  Thank you!

We have internet access that appears to be mostly reliable.  Sometimes it goes down for no apparent reason.  We would love to get e-mails and to Skype with you.

Our house is a little rough but has room for us and has a hot water heater.  It is kind of old and dirty - those of you who know Jen well would be very proud of her.  She has not complained once.  And God has rewarded her with the opportunity to move to another house.  This house is much nicer, has more space, is only a five minute walk to school, and the rent is cheaper.  We plan to move there at the end of January.  Thank you, Lord!

We have been going through orientation at The Spanish Language Institute.  We are impressed with the people.  And they have a great sense of humor!  Language school officially starts on January 10th.  The children start school on January 9th - their first time to attend school.

Please pray for us!  Pray that we would be able learn all of the new things we encounter and be able to adjust to the culture.  Pray that our attitudes would be Christ-like especially when we have to wait or things do not progress as quickly as we would like.  (everything takes longer here).  Pray that we would learn Spanish well.  Pray for our children that they would have strength and adjust to going to school.

We praise God for His guidance, strength, and safety.  We are excited to learn Spanish and to follow God's will for our lives.  We love you all!
