Merry Christmas!  Feliz Navidad!

We want to wish you a Merry Christmas from the tropics.  The weather is cold here - sometimes dipping into the 60s at night.  We don't have snow for Christmas but we do have fireworks.  It is like the 4th of July but for a whole month.  It doesn't feel like Christmas - we are missing the cold, the snow (Jen isn't), the lights on the houses, and time with family and friends.  We are reminded that no matter where we are, God is with us.  God sent his Son to be Emmanuel – God with us!  We are thankful for His presence with us in Nicaragua.  It is hard to believe that we have been here for almost a year.  We are very blessed!

Please see below for ways you can help through year end giving.  Thank you!

Institute of Church Planters graduation

The ABWE Institute of Church Planters graduated its third class of pastors Friday, November 15, 2013.
The big event started with the final classes on Wednesday. Thursday was a day of family fun and games which included baseball, soccer, puppets, animal balloons, crafts, and visiting with friends. Friday was graduation day! Twelve men and seven wives walked in the graduation. We are excited about what God will do through these men and women to spread the gospel.

Making and Eating the Tower of Babel

While the parents were completing their final classes, we had a great time teaching the kids new songs, reading about the Tower of Babel, and then making a tower out of marshmallows and candy. We learned a verse, made paper airplanes, played with bubbles, played games, and did sticker pages.  We loved getting to know the children of the pastors.  There was a girl in our class and her name is Cielo Dulce, which means Sweet Heaven. What a fun name.

Grandparents visit!

We were excited to have Mark's parents come to visit.  They were able to see our ministry firsthand and do some sightseeing.  Our kids loved playing games - board games and ping pong.  We even were able to show my Dad (who retired from the Dayton Post Office) the process of getting a package through customs.  After visiting two post offices and the bank and paying $20, the process only took three hours.  Thanks for coming Dad & Mom!

El Camino

Mark's parents helped pass out over 100 beanie babies donated my a member of one of our supporting churches, Berachah Church.  Thank you!  The kids were so excited about their gift!  We enjoyed driving away and seeing the the kids in the neighborhood playing with their new gifts. We love the kids who come to the center.  During the month of December we have been reading the Christmas story and making Christmas crafts.

Multipurpose Building

Our team is raising funds for a multipurpose building for the Ministry Center.  This facility will not only provide a place out of the sun/rain for activities but also allow us to host groups larger than 200 for conferences, evangelistic  outreaches, etc. All donations received by the end of the year will be doubled through a matching grant! Would you consider giving to this important project? For more information and testimonies of the impact of the ministry center please check at the ABWE website. http://www.abwe.org/give/projects/nicaragua-ministry-center/AP13NMCWEB#.UrDNCOKQOKI

Year End Giving

We would appreciate it if you would consider us in your year end giving.  We have many great projects and opportunities going on here in Nicaragua.  However, many of them cost money.  While we do not want to foster an attitude of dependence, there is a reality of poverty.  We look for pastors who are cultivators - who are working hard with the little they have - and we look for ways to give them a boost:: Sunday school materials, chairs for the church, a stone firestove for a feeding center, money for a ride home, materials for a special event, a new church building, etc.  There are many possibilities.  For more information on the kinds of things that are needed, please visit our website at http://holsinger.abwe.org/get-involved-. For ways to send you money please go to http://holsinger.abwe.org/donate-support. Thank you!!
