Prayer Letter March/April 2011

Memorial Baptist Church Missions ConferenceMemorial Baptist Church Missions Conference     Wow!  The past few weeks have been a whirlwind.  We started off March by visiting two churches. We traveled to Calvary Baptist in Greenville, Michigan on March 5 and were greeted by snowy roads and large snowdrifts.  We were able to present our ministry in two services and teach the children in between.  We were very blessed by the friendliness of the church and the number of people who stopped to talk to us.  We enjoyed an excellent lunch afterward with the missions task force; they are a great group of people.  The next Sunday we presented our ministry at Fellowship Baptist in Dublin, Ohio.  We enjoyed the kindness of that church and our lunch with the wonderful Stevanus family.

Sandwiched in between the two churches we took a “quick” trip to ABWE.  The plane travel to ABWE was anything but quick.  Our flight from Dayton to Cleveland left at about 5:00 on Thursday and did not arrive in Harrisburg until 9:00 the next morning.  A cancelled flight, a delayed flight, taxi rides, one hour in a hotel to shower and change clothes, walking from terminal to terminal.  It was a long night without sleep.  We enjoyed our time at ABWE and we had dinner with our good friends, the Lang family, who will be teammates with us in Nicaragua.

The end of March/beginning of April brought three missions conferences in a row - Memorial Baptist, Emmanuel Baptist, and our sending church Washington Heights Baptist.  We enjoyed doing children’s missions conferences at each church.  Our highlight at Emmanuel was the after church outings with some of the missionaries and friends at Emmanuel!  It was awesome!  One of the highlights at Washington Heights, was "skyping" the Edgar children in Nicaragua.  The Washington Heights kids had the opportunity to ask the Edgar children their questions about being missionary kids in Nicaragua.  We had a great time talking to the children about their role in the Great Commission.

Mark finished out his accounting job in April and celebrated his 40th birthday.  He jokes that he wanted to be retired by the age of forty and he made it! J.  We will now “retire” to a tropical climate.

God has blessed us with another supporting church and we could not ask for a better one.  They were amazing to us at their missions conference.  Memorial Baptist Church is an outstanding church where the people love God and each other.  God is doing great things there and blessing their faithfulness. Their priority is to exalt God through edification and evangelism.  We are thankful for the prayers, encouragement, and financial support.  We love you Memorial Baptist Church!!  Thank you!

We continue to pray that God will provide full support by the end of October.  We are putting our faith in our God and we believe He will provide.  We are praying earnestly for Him to perform this miracle and that He will be glorified when the impossible is accomplished.  God has provided 75% so far!  So we are over ¾ of the way there.  But there is still a significant amount to raise.  However, if 25 churches or people will join us at 1% - we will be there!!  It can be done!!  God can do it - we are praying that God will lead us to those He wants us to partner with financially.  Will you pray with us?  Will you be one of the 24 needed to get us to Nicaragua?

We need your prayers.  Please pray for us.  Pray that we will be faithful in prayer.  We know that nothing of eternal significance happens apart from prayer.  Prayer shows our dependence on God.  We want to be faithful in prayer and faithful to the prayer. In other words, we want to pray and follow God’s leading, not our own agenda or direction. Please pray for us.  Some prayer requests are:

     1.   That God would do exceedingly abundantly beyond all we can ask or imagine.

     2.   For individuals and churches who have considered partnering with us – that God would provide for them and that they would be lead by the Spirit to partner with us

                                                 3.    100% support by the end of October

                                                 4.      That we would be quick to fall on our knees in prayer

Thank you again, for your encouragement, prayers, and financial partnership!! We appreciate you!!
